Visual attractiveness
In my daily work I regularly set up and programme questionnaires. To stay up to date with the latest tools and techniques in online surveys, I like to participate in studies from various research agencies. The quality and attractiveness of these studies varies enormously.
The quality, length, and structure of a questionnaire can be thought out perfectly, but when the visual attractiveness is faulty, this does not guarantee qualitative results. Aesthetics are of great importance in keeping the respondents engaged, yet sometimes overlooked.
I have come across some awesome examples of questionnaires that clearly paid attention to this matter. Think of picture based scales, usage of icons, open answers in notebook format, usage of speech balloons, and so on. It can be the most simple things, that make a great difference.
